The much-anticipated fifth season of the DC adult-animated series, Harley Quinn, has finally been penciled in for a release this year. Season 5's renewal was officially announced last November, and this recent update gives a clearer picture of when DC fans can dive back into the chaotic world of Gotham's most notorious antiheroine.

Per The Direct, the confirmation comes from Corus Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, presenting a thrilling update for fans who have waited for the show's comeback on Max since the fourth season wrapped up in September 2023. The timing of Harley Quinn Season 5's release is expected to align with the theatrical debut of Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux on October 4, 2024, which introduces a fresh portrayal of Harley Quinn by Oscar-winning actress Lady Gaga.

Harley Quinn's fourth season left fans reeling with its thrilling developments and narrative twists that could potentially give it an explosive return in Season 5. The finale unfolded with monumental revelations: Batgirl, having survived the Joker's attack, is now confined to a wheelchair but has not lost her edge, using her tech prowess to thwart Lex Luthor alongside Harley and Poison Ivy. The episode concluded with Batgirl announcing her departure from the Bat Family to join the Gotham City Sirens, setting the stage for new alliances and confrontations in Gotham’s underworld.

Briana Cuoco, the voice behind Batgirl, shared her insights and hopes for her character in the upcoming season during a recent interview with ComicBook. Despite being in the dark about the specifics of the fifth season, Cuoco expressed a connection to her character, saying:

"I don't know anything. I just got asked this in another interview and he thought I was being facetious. I actually really don't. I hope that girl's around, obviously I have no control over that. I love her so much. I love how sort of earnest she is and pure and I mean, obviously in this last season she's changed a little bit, but I adore her and I hope I get to go back."
